Important day! Today at 10:00 AM I testified before the Senate HELP committee chaired by Sen. Patti Murray with Richard Burr as Ranking minority. It will be likely the last time that I will be testifying before the United States Congress in my position as the director of NIAID. Rand Paul was his usual self asking hostile questions of me saying that I am denying the existence of natural immunity. He showed a C-SPAN film clip of me taken out of context where I say that a person who was infected with flu did not need a vaccination – I then held up a clip from Reuters “Fack-Checker” saying that Rand Paul was taking me out of context: Fact Check- Fauci’s 2004 comments do not contradict his pandemic stance By Reuters Fact Check He then accused me of not providing the amount of royalties that people on advisory committees get. I pointed out to him that I have nothing to do with the VRPAC or ACIP. All in all, he made a fool of himself and threatened to haul me before committee’s under oath if GOP takes over the Senate.
