Cases coming down, but not precipitously:

It is a really tough world that we're living in. In a commentary about my commencement
address at Vanderbilt one of the newspapers (The Tennessean) reported that as I was giving the
speech → While he was speaking on YouTube, trolls were calling him a liar.

   • Cliff Lane and I together with Francis Collins have always been skeptical about
     the efficacy of convalescent plasma for the treatment of COVID-19.
     Accumulating data over the past few months have made it clear that despite the
     claims of people such as Arturo Casadevall and others that convalescent plasma
     works and is beneficial , it is clear that Cliff and I and Francis were correct all
     along.
   • In a situation very similar to what I had faced multiple times such as when I
     picked up food at Chef Geoff’s tonight I went with Chris to pick up carry out
     from Raku restaurant on Wisconsin Ave. As soon as people recognized me
     there was a wave of applause and squealing and screaming and clapping
     and thanking me with multiple people coming and asking for selfies . It was a
     little bit embarrassing, but it was just a manifestation of how people need a
     symbol of integrity and truth.
   • Joan Baez texted me tonight asking me about what she should wear for the
     State Department dinner since she heard that it was going to be 90 plus degrees
     in Washington on Friday and she anticipated that the air conditioning in the
     state Department would be freezing.
