We are now at less than 100,000 cases per day, when we were up to 400,000 at one time. • Had zoom with Dr. Hans Kluge WHO Regional Director for Europe • Did Fireside Chat with David Rubenstein as part of the Duke Global Health Institute Victor Dzau Lecture • Pleasant thing – I had mentioned on a radio or TV show that what I missed most about NYC was the Nathan’s hot dogs. Today sitting on my home from steps were two packages of Nathan’s hot dogs – a gift with a nice note from Tim Shriver saying that he “could not resist the hot dog invitation”. Had a wonderful experience this evening. I received (virtually) the Award of Courage from AmFAR. It was presented to me virtually by Julia Roberts from her breakfast room in her home in Northern California. She was so charming. When my image came up on the screen she gasped and said that every time she sees me her throat gets dry and she gets nervous and excused herself to go into the kitchen and get a glass of water. When she came back and introduced me it was the most wonderful introduction. She introduced me to her son while we waited to check the filming and we chatted a bit. She is so charming, natural, fun and amazingly beautiful. PRESS: Did routine MWF White House Press conference. I spoke about making sure that people with immune deficiencies or on immunosuppressive drugs get vaccinated since they are very vulnerable; Interview with Rima Krist of the Navajo Times
