Met with Tim Hallett (of the UK’s London School of
Tropical Health and Hygiene) and Eric Goosby in Eric’s office to
discuss Tim’s mathematical model for concentrating PEPFAR’s efforts on
“Hot Zones” of infection within a given country as opposed to targeting
whole countries or regions.   Mark Dybul is very much in favor of this
approach and since he is now Executive Director of the Global Fund, he
wanted me to convince Eric that PEPFAR should take this approach.
Hence, Mark arranged this meeting of me, Tim, and Eric.   Eric in his
usual good careful approach is somewhat skeptical of “Models”
