Attended White House ceremony for the announcement of Randall Tobias
as the Coordinator of the President’s Emergency Program for AIDS Relief. Randy is
former CEO of Lilly. Pres. (as usual) mentioned me and said that it was an honor to have
me there. I strongly recommended to TGT that Mark Dybul be appointed in the State
Department to the new program to help Joe O’Neill who was clearly emerging as the
second in command.

July 2 – 7, 2003 – Much attention paid to post-war guerilla action in Iraq with several
USA service people getting killed in terrorist/guerilla action.
