President Bush signs the Authorizing legislation for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief in the Dean Acheson Auditorium of the State Department. Again, he specifically thanked me in his speech for my work on AIDS and for being there. I was given a “seat of honor” in the first row. In his speech the President used word-for-word the sentence that I composed for him describing the initiative as the “largest single up-front commitment in history to an international public health initiative involving a single disease”
